(Gillette, WY) – The Sheridan College Generals started off
the 2012-2013 season with a pair of wins at the Gillette College
Tournament. The Generals took on the Air
Force Preparatory Academy in their season opener Friday night, defeating the
Falcons 72-67. Freshman forward Tate
Stensgaard (Rapid City, SD) led the Generals with 22 points and 12 rebounds,
going 9-9 from the foul line. Sophomore guard Ron Mvouika (Paris, France) also
contributed 20 points in the Generals victory.
The Generals were back in action Saturday night, taking on
reigning Region IX South champions Western Nebraska Community College. A high
scoring contest, the Generals defeated the Cougars 107-104 in overtime. Ron Mvouika led the Generals with 33 points,
including a 3 point basket with .9 seconds left to notch the victory. Mvouika also grabbed 14 rebounds and dished
out 4 assists in the win. Sophomore
guard Victor Bermudez (Las Vegas, NV) had 28 points, going 5-8 from beyond the
arc. Freshman guard Iakeem Alston
(Baltimore, MD) also added in 17 points and 5 assists for the Generals.
The Generals are back in action Monday night, at home,
against Rocky Mountain College. Tip-off is at 7:30 pm in the Golden Dome. Live
