Generals Move to 13-3, 3-0 In Region IX North, With Victory



(Sheridan) – A slow starting first half for the Generals, plagued with turnovers, saw the Gillette College Pronghorns taking a half-time lead at the Bruce Hoffman Golden Dome.  In a tale of two halves, the Generals outscored the Pronghorns 46-35 in the second half to pick up win number 13 on the season, and sole possession of first place in Region IX North with the 72-62 victory.

Sophomore guard Ron Mvouika led the way for the Generals. Mvouika scored a game high 18 points, pulled down a game high 15 rebounds, dished out 4 assists, and nabbed 2 steals on the evening.  Victor Bermudez chipped in 16 points on the evening, including 4 three-point field goals, giving him 49 made three-point field goals on the year thus far. Freshman guard Frederic Dure also scored in double-figures, netting 14 points in the victory. 

The Generals move into Christmas break posting a 13-3 record, including a 3-0 start in Region IX North play.  The Generals are back in action in 2013 as they take on the Laramie County Golden Eagles at the Bruce Hoffman Golden Dome on January 5th at 4:00 PM.

Generals Scale Tetons, Move to 12-3




(Williston, ND) – In a low-scoring, defensive effort, the Sheridan College Generals moved to 12-3 on the season after a 59-57 defeat of the Williston State College Tetons Monday night in Williston, North Dakota.  The Generals held the Tetons to 23 points in the second half on 26% shooting from beyond the arc, and 35% from the field.  Sophomore guard Victor Bermudez led the Generals with 13 points, including three 3-point field goals. Freshman guard Joe Kiely scored 10 points, going a perfect 5-5 from the field and nabbed 5 steals.  Freshman guard Iakeem Alston also scored in double figures, notching 10 points while going 4-4 from the foul line. 

The Generals are back in action this Friday, December 14th as they take on Gillette College in the 3rd Annual Sneaker Slam at the Bruce Hoffman Golden Dome at 7:30 PM.

Generals Start Region IX North Play With Impressive Win

(Crow Agency, MT) – The Sheridan College Generals opened up Region IX North play with an impressive 107-71 victory over the Little Big Horn Rams.  A mixture of hot shooting and rebounding helped lead the Generals to their first Region IX North victory of the year.  Every General in action scored on the evening, led by Victor Bermudez (Las Vegas, NV) who had a game high 23 points, including 7 three-point baskets. Freshman guard X-Keem Jones (Wilson, NC) scored 15 points for the Generals, including 3 three-point field goals, and pulled down a game high 8 rebounds.  Frederic Dure, Ron Mvouika, and Iakeem Alston rounded out the rest of the Generals who scored in double-figures; netting 13,12, and 11 points respectively.

The Generals shot 56% from beyond the arc and 46% from the field in the game.  A rebounding domination helped the Generals win the war on the glass, 57-41, including 24 offensive rebounds.  The Generals are back in action this Saturday, December 8th, as they take on Northwest College at the Bruce Hoffman Golden Dome at 5:00 PM.

Generals Defeat Cougars 84-69



(Sheridan) – The Sheridan College Generals moved to 9-3 on the year after defeating the Western Nebraska Community College Cougars 84-69 at the Bruce Hoffman Golden Dome. The Generals were led in scoring, rebounding, and assists by sophomore guard Ron Mvouika, with 21 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 assists.  Freshman guard Iakeem Alston chipped in 18 points, grabbed 7 rebounds, and dished out 4 assists as well on the evening. Sophomore guard Victor Bermudez also scored in double figures, adding 15 points, including 3 three-point field goals, grabbed 7 rebounds, and dished out 3 assists in the win. 

The Generals had a productive second-half shooting the ball, shooting 50% from the field, 55% from beyond the arc, and 75% from the free-throw line.  The Generals start Region-IX North play this Wednesday, December 5th, at Little Big Horn College.

Generals Sweep Lions Club Tournament, Move to 8-2



(Sheridan) – The Sheridan College Generals moved to 8-2 on the season after picking up a pair of wins over the Weekend at the 38th annual Lions Club Tournament.

In an all-out, dominating effort, the Generals defeated the University of Great Falls 117-37. All 12 members of the Generals scored in the contest, 7 of which in double figures.  Sophomore center Isaac Oeltjen (Red Wing, MN) notched his first double-double of the season scoring 10 points and grabbing 10 rebounds while blocking 4 shots in the contest.  The Generals shot 57% from the field and 54% from three-point range while holding the Argos to 23% shooting from the field.  The Generals also dominated the glass, out-rebounding their opponent 53-17.

The Generals next faced a match-up with Region XVIII opponent Colorado Northwestern.  Another hot shooting night for the Generals led them past the Spartans.  The Generals shot 52% from the field and 48% from behind the arc, knocking down 10 three-point field goals.  Sophomore guard Victor Bermudez scored 17 points in the contest, knocking down 5 three-point shots.  The Generals were led in scoring by Ron Mvouika and Tate Stensgaard who both scored game high 22 points.  Stensgaard also pulled down a game high 17 rebounds in 22 minutes of action.

The Generals are back in action this weekend facing Midwest Elite & Western Nebraska in the Holiday Inn Classic. Game times are 7:30 pm Friday night and 5:00 pm Saturday afternoon.  Games will streamed on www.SCGenerals.com.

Generals Sweep the Weekend, Move to 6-1



(Powell) – The Sheridan College Generals picked up a pair of wins over the weekend at the Northwest College tournament, in Powell, Wyoming. The Generals faced a Region IX-South opponent in the Northeastern Junior College Plainsmen, and the Williston State College Tetons from Region XIII.

The Generals defeated the Plainsmen behind a hot shooting night, going 6-12 from 3-point range and shooting 56% from the field.  A 73-62 Generals victory was led by sophomore guard Victor Bermudez who notched a game high 20 points, including three 3-point baskets.  Sophomore forward Brandon Pines scored 13 points for the Generals while going 5-6 from the foul line. Ron Mvouika and freshman guard Iakeem Alston also scored in double figures for the Generals, notching 12 points and 10 points respectively.  The Generals cleaned up on the glass, out-rebounding the Plainsmen 30-18.

The Generals would finish off the weekend by facing the national vote receiving Tetons from Williston State College. Five Generals would finish the game with double figure scoring.  Bermudez once again led the Generals by scoring 16 points, netting four 3-point baskets, and grabbing a game high 10 rebounds.  Ron Mvouika and Frederic Dure both notched 13 points in the victory. Tate Stensgaard added to his double-double count for the season by scoring 12 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. And freshman guard Joe Kiely scored 11 points on the evening.  The Generals once again made their presence felt on the boards, out-rebounding Williston 38-29.
