#25 Generals 10-2 after weekend split!

The #25 SC Generals finished the first part of the season at 10-2 after a weekend split.

On Friday, the Generals traveled to Casper, Wyoming to take on rival Casper College. The action was intense and the game was back & forth as Casper held on to a 16-point lead midway through the first half and a 12-point lead at halftime, before the Generals come roaring back to take a 9-point lead with 5 minutes left in the game. Unfortunately for the Generals, Casper fought back to take the lead with just under 1-minute remaining and held on for the 73-69 victory. Antoine Proctor led the Generals with a career-high 26 points and had 7 rebounds, JR Cadot added 16 points and 7 rebounds, and Charlton Wilson added 11. The Generals would take a 44-38 lead into halftime, only to see Gillette battle back early in the 2nd half and make it a game. Down the stretch, both teams made huge plays, but Sheridan prevailed when Jarrell Crayton finished a missed lay-up with time running low to give the Generals the 4-point cushion that would be the final score, at 87-83. Five players scored in double-figures, led by Idris Lasisi with a career-high 19 points, Antoine Proctor with 15, JR Cadot with 14 & a team-high 9 rebounds, Kendrick Morse with 13, and Jarrell Crayon with 11.

On Friday & Saturday, they traveled to Casper College to play Eastern Wyoming College, Central Wyoming College, College of Southern Idaho, and Western Nebraska. The Generals finished the Jamboree with a 3-1 record.... On Sunday, the Generals were back on the road to face Black Hills State University and South Dakota School of Mines, to good NAIA schools. The Generals split halves with both teams and competed well. It was exciting to finally see our guys in action against some new competition. We have a lot to work on, but there are a lot of positives. We have a chance to have a special team if we continue to commit to constant improvement in practice every day! Until next time...

Idris Lasisi signs Letter of Intent to play for Generals!

Sheridan College Generals Men’s Basketball coach Steve Smiley is proud to announce that Idris Lasisi, a 6’2”, 195 shooting guard from Leuven, Belgium, has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Generals for the 2009-10 season. Lasisi, who graduated from Sint-Pieterscollege high school in Leuven, will be a freshmen for the Generals this year.
Coach Smiley had the following to say about Idris: “We are very pleased to get a player of Idris’s caliber so late in the summer. We originally thought that we were done recruiting, but when we had a chance to get involved with Idris’s recruitment a couple of weeks ago, we tried everything possible to get him enrolled for the fall semester. We were fortunate that he was able to get his student visa so quickly from the U.S. Embassy and get here in time for the start of classes…. Idris’s main qualities are his physical presence, skill level, and great feel for the game. He is able to stretch opposing defenses with his shooting ability, and he should be a lock-down defender for us once he gets acclimated to our style of play. He had a very productive summer in the Belgian Pro-Am league and he has a chance to be a very special player for us in the future.”
