Jarrell Crayton a 6’7, 205 lbs forward from Bellevue East High School in Bellevue, Nebraska has just signed a National Letter of Intent to play with the Sheridan College Generals. Jarrell was one of the most highly touted recruits in the state of Nebraska. Throughout the year Crayton received offers from Creighton, Colorado State, and the University of Nebraska. Jarrell started out the 2008-09 season with a bang scoring 51 points in his first game; it was the first 50 plus point game in three decades in Nebraska. As a junior Crayton averaged 18 points and 10.5 rebounds per game and was named First Team All-State (he was the only junior to receive that award), while leading his team to the State Championship game. Jarrell’s senior year he led Class A in scoring at 19.8 points per game, he also pulled down 10 rebounds per game, and was again named First Team All-State.
Coach Smiley had to say this about Jarrell: “Jarrell has a chance to be a very special player at Sheridan College. He’s very talented, athletic, and has a great feel for the game. We’re excited to get a chance to work with Jarrell and continue to refine his game over the next two years. If he applies himself, he could have an unbelievable college career. I’ve known Jarrell since I worked with him at a camp in South Dakota 3 years ago, and I’m ecstatic to have him in our program, as he’s not only a great player, but he’s also a great person. He will positively influence our college in many ways over the next two years.”
