(Powell) – The Sheridan College Generals picked up a pair of
wins over the weekend at the Northwest College tournament, in Powell, Wyoming.
The Generals faced a Region IX-South opponent in the Northeastern Junior
College Plainsmen, and the Williston State College Tetons from Region XIII.
The Generals defeated the Plainsmen behind a hot shooting
night, going 6-12 from 3-point range and shooting 56% from the field. A 73-62 Generals victory was led by sophomore
guard Victor Bermudez who notched a game high 20 points, including three
3-point baskets. Sophomore forward
Brandon Pines scored 13 points for the Generals while going 5-6 from the foul
line. Ron Mvouika and freshman guard Iakeem Alston also scored in double
figures for the Generals, notching 12 points and 10 points respectively. The Generals cleaned up on the glass, out-rebounding
the Plainsmen 30-18.
The Generals would finish off the weekend by facing the national
vote receiving Tetons from Williston State College. Five Generals would finish
the game with double figure scoring.
Bermudez once again led the Generals by scoring 16 points, netting four
3-point baskets, and grabbing a game high 10 rebounds. Ron Mvouika and Frederic Dure both notched 13
points in the victory. Tate Stensgaard added to his double-double count for the
season by scoring 12 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. And freshman guard Joe
Kiely scored 11 points on the evening.
The Generals once again made their presence felt on the boards,
out-rebounding Williston 38-29.
The Generals move to 6-1 on the year and are back in action
this Tuesday, November 20th against the Eastern Wyoming College Lancers.
