Second Half Surge Lifts Generals Past Rustlers

(Riverton) - The Central Wyoming Rustlers went into halftime of their game against the Generals feeling confident with a 41-28 lead. A first half offensive explosion saw the Rustlers go 4-6 from the 3 and shot 54% from the field, while the Generals saw an offensive field goal percentage of 32%. But in a tale of two halves, the Generals came out in the second half and turned up the defensive intensity, and saw an offensive explosion.

The Generals held the Rustlers to 15% shooting from beyond the arc, going 2-13, and only 36% from the field. A 15 point Rustler lead with 12 minutes to go began to dwindle as freshman guards Victor Bermudez, Wayne Bradford, and RJ Leverette hit a barrage of 3 point field goals to tie the game. The Generals shot 86% from beyond the arc in the second half, connecting on 6-7 attempts.
Lamont Prosser solidified himself as the best ‘big man’ in Region IX by scoring 16 of his 21 points in the second half, going 7-9 from the charity stripe, he also pulled down 11 rebounds on the night. Freshman guard Wayne Bradford contributed 18 points, going 8-8 from the foul line and 2-2 from 3, and also pulled down 6 boards. RJ Leverette notched 15 points on the evening, going 4-8 from 3.

The Generals out-rebounded the Rustlers 39-26 on the night, including 14 offensive rebounds. Sheridan College now moves to 19-4 on the season, just a half game out of first place in Region IX North. The Generals are back in action this Wednesday, February 15, against Western Wyoming College at 7:30 PM, at the Bruce Hoffman Golden Dome.
