(Glendive) – The Generals saw a twelve point half-time lead disappear against the Dawson College Buccaneers Saturday evening. A Khion Sankey steal, as time expired, prevented Dawson College the opportunity to extend the game. The Generals defense held the Buccaneers to 33% shooting from beyond the arc, but it was the 5 three-point field goals made in the second half that kept Dawson College alive.
Offensively, Sheridan College connected on 53% of all field goals taken on the night, but only connected on 33% of their attempts from downtown. Sophomore forward Robert Heyer led the Generals with 16 points, connecting on all 6 free-throws, including a pair to extend the General lead to 3 with less than 30 seconds remaining. Lamont Prosser contributed 15 points and 6 rebounds on the night. And sophomore Khion Sankey also chipped in 11 points while pulling down 6 rebounds. The Generals out-rebounded Dawson College 38-25 on the evening.
Sheridan College extends their record to 21-4 with the victory, going 10-3 in Region IX North play. The Generals take on Miles Community College Wednesday, February 22, at 7:30 PM at the Bruce Hoffman Golden Dome.
