The
Sheridan College Men’s & Women’s basketball teams participated in the local
Easter Seals & Goodwill national fundraising competition
to help awareness of disabilities. The fundraiser supports exceptional programs like autism
services, pediatric therapy for children with disabilities, and workforce
development for adults with and without disabilities. The athletes were
paired with an individual and participated in a grocery-bagging
competition.
Last year, Safeway
stores in the mid-west region raised over $55,000 to help children and adults
in the community. Safeway’s roughly 1,700 stores across the United
States (operating under various brand names) will devote the month of April to
raising money for Easter Seals in this coordinated company-wide effort.
