Canadian Wing Joins Generals

The Generals will look to add more size to their perimeter players next year with the addition of 6'7, 230 lb Canadian wing Abednego Lufile.   Lufile, the 16th ranked national player in the 2013 class, led REDA Academy in scoring with 27 points per game, and pulled down 12 rebounds per game this past season while playing for Coach Tarry Upshaw.  A highly touted Canadian player, Lufile received All-Star honors in the Sun Youth, Canadian Christmas Showcase, Planet Athlete, Halloween Havoc, Pound The Rock, and CPA National Championship tournaments.  The brother of Wichita State standout Chadrack Lufile, Abednego will join RaVonn Posey (6’8, 290, Milwaukee Riverside), Rudolphe Joly (6’10, 260, Alma Academy), Kyi Thomas (6’4, 185, Sheldon High School),  and Xavier Webb (6’0, 175, Riverton High School) for the 2013-2014 season.

Coach Smiley commented on the signing “Abednego is another crucial piece of our incoming recruiting class, as he’s a very well-known player in Canada. He’s a physically impressive wing, playing the small forward position at 6’7” and 230 lb’s. Currently, there are almost 30 players in Canada in the Class of2013 that are signed to NCAA D1 schools, so Abednego’s recognition as the 16th-best player in the entire country speaks volumes about his potential. His experience playing for one of the most well-respected programs in Canada, REDA Academy with Coach Tarry Upshaw has prepared him well for his move to the States, and we’re really happy that he is joining the Generals family!”
