(Powell) – A Sheridan College Generals slow start Saturday night
against Northwest College saw the Generals enter halftime with a 12 point
deficit. As the Generals came roaring
back in the second half, a one point lead with 8 seconds remaining disappeared
as Trapper Guiherme Carabagiale knocked down a free-throw to tie the game and
send it to overtime. A low scoring extra
period saw the Generals strike first, but it was not enough as the game
extended into a second overtime. A 6-0
Trapper run to start the second overtime proved too much as the Trappers handed
the Generals their first lost since January 9th.
The Generals were led by Ron Mvouika who had a game high 23
points and 11 rebounds. Freshman guard
Frederic Dure chipped in 19 points in the loss, while pulling down 5
rebounds. Iakeem Alston netted 18 points
on the evening, including 12 from the charity stripe. Guard Victor Bermudez chipped in 17 points,
including 4 three-point field goals.
The Generals are back in action Saturday, February 9th,
as they face the Central Wyoming Rustlers at the Bruce Hoffman Golden Dome at
5:00 PM.
