The longest winning streak in Region IX Men’s Basketball
continued Wednesday night as the Sheridan College Generals won their sixth
straight game, defeat the Miles Community College Pioneers 98-91. The victory
improves the Generals to 24-5 on the season, 12-3 in Region IX North play, and
ensures that they will finish no lower than second going into the regional
tournament next weekend. On sophomore night Fred Dure led the Generals with 29
points, including a perfect 7-7 effort from the charity stripe, and pulled down
9 rebounds. Freshman forward Abednego Lufile added another double-double to his
resume, scoring 20 points and pulling down 11 rebounds in the win. Sophomore guard Iakeem Alston chipped in 12
points on the evening and dished out 7 assists without committing a turnover.
Freshman guard Jamir Andrews was the final General in double-figures, chipping
in 10 points.
All 10 members of the Sheridan College team that saw action
Wednesday night scored in the victory. The Generals out-rebounded Miles 42-32,
pulling down 20 offensive rebounds while the Pioneers claimed 11. Sheridan will finish the regular season, this
Saturday, February 22nd as they travel to Riverton, Wyoming to play
the Central Wyoming College Rustlers.
