Sheridan College men’s basketball head coach Steve Smiley is excited to announce the addition of Jamir Andrews to the Generals roster for the 2013-2014 season. Andrews, a 6’3 guard from Dublin, California, played for Coach Tom Costello at Dublin High School where he helped lead the Gaels to a 27-7 record, leading them to the CIF Final 4. During his senior season, Jamir averaged 19 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals per game. Andrews earned 1st Team All DFAL as a senior, as well as a junior. In addition to being honored Tri Valley All-Metro, All East Bay Honorable Mention, Andrews was also nominated as an All-State performer in California. Andrews played for coach Gary Hill-Thomas and the Nevada Wolverines AAU program during the summer season.
“We’ve been following Jamir ever since we saw him last summer on the AAU circuit when he was playing for the Nevada Wolverines, so we’re really excited to have him sign to play for the Generals,” commented Coach Smiley. “Jamir is not only a tremendous player, but also an exceptional student in the classroom. Jamir has a special ability to score the ball in several different ways, and is extremely hard to guard because of his versatility, strength, and his ability to both shoot and get to the rim. He can play many positions on the floor which is exactly what we were looking for with this opening. We fully expect Jamir to be an impact player for us and eventually move on to the Division 1 level.”
