The Sheridan College Generals tournament run came to an end in the Region IX Final Four to the Region IX Tournament Champions Northeastern Junior College Plainsmen. The Generals were victorious in their first two contests, defeating the Otero Rattlers and the Northwest Trappers. The #30 ranked Generals finished the season 27-6.
A hot second half helped the Generals defeat Otero by a final score of 83-65. The two teams were tied at 36 going into halftime, but a defensive effort in the second half held the Rattlers to 36% from the field and saw the Generals win the half 47-29. Sophomore forward Frederic Dure led all scorers with a game high 23 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists. Abednego Lufile notched a double-double scoring 14 points and grabbing 12 rebounds on the evening, also swatting 6 shots. Jeff Amazan chipped in 17 points on the night while grabbing 7 boards.
Against the Northwest College Trappers a balanced attack helped push the Generals into the Region IX Final 4. Sophomore guards Frederic Dure and Jeff Amazan had 15 and 14 points respectively. Freshman forward Kaileb Rodriguez scored 12 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and rejected 3 shots on the night. Iakeem Alston had 11 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists in the victory. Abednego Lufile was the final General to score in double figures, chipping in 10 points in the win. The General dominated the glass, out rebounding the Trappers 45-36.
In the Region IX Final Four the Generals saw a 43-38 half-time lead disappear late in the second half as the Plainsmen made a surge that would push them all the way to claiming the Region IX Championship. The Generals were led in scoring by sophomore Jeff Amazan who provided 19 points on the evening. Jamir Andrews knocked down 3 three-point field goals on his way to 13 points. And sophomore guard Iakeem Alston chipped in 12 points before fouling out.
The Generals finished the year 27-6, including a 13-3 record in Region IX North play. Frederic Dure led the Generals this year with 15.1 points per game. Freshman Jamir Andrews had a stellar introduction into the Generals line up and averaged 12.3 points while shooting 40% from beyond the arc. Sophomore forward Josh Adeyeye contributed 11.4 points and 7.6 rebounds in 24 minutes of action before suffering a season ending injury. Sophomore guard Jeff Amazan finished out the Generals in double-figures on the year at 10.3 points per game. Iakeem Alston finished the year with 4.5 assists per game while contributed 8.6 points.
