Northern California Standout Signs with Sheridan College!!
Sheridan, WY – Sheridan College head men's basketball coach Steve Smiley announced today the signing of Newark Memorial High School power forward Khion Sankey to a national letter of intent.
Sankey, a 6-5, 225 pound power forward played at Newark Memorial High School but resides in Stockton, CA. Sankey averaged 14.6 points, 8 rebounds, 2.8 steals, and 2.8 assists per game in leading his team to a 30-5 finish, a Northern California Championship, and a second place finish in the entire state (CIF). In his senior season Sankey led his team in points, rebounds, steals, and free throws made. He was also second in assists and three point field goal percentage.
Khion has been named First Team All-Northern California, ESPN RISE CalHiSports.com Boys State Athlete of the Week, All-Bay Area Team-Division 1, All-East Bay Basketball First Team, 2009 MaxPreps All-Tournament Team-National Division, San Francisco Chronicle’s All Metro 2nd-Team, and Top 125 Easy Bay Prep Athletes of the Year of 2010.
Coach Smiley had this to say about the newest arrival to the Generals: “Khion is one of the most well-known recruits that Sheridan College has signed in the past several years. To be the team leader in points, rebounds, and steals and 2nd in assists on a team that won the Northern California State Title and lost in the CIF State Title in the biggest classification in the state is very impressive. Khion had a great senior year, capped off by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds in the State Championship game vs Westchester, which has 5 NCAA D1 signees, and he produced at that level against some of the best competition in the state throughout the year. He plays his best when his best is needed, and that is the sign of a champion. Khion is also a very good student, a great kid, and is known for his toughness and physicality on the court. He will have a chance to contribute immediately, and we’re absolutely thrilled to get a player of his stature!”
