While at San Francisco, Diarra helped lead the Dons to the quarterfinals of the 2011 CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament in his final season.

During his first season at Sheridan, Diarra garnered his first All-Region IX Defensive Player of the Year honor, as well as an all-league selection while averaging 10.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per contest. His sophomore season showed his growth and improvement as his production increased to 18.6 points, 7.7 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game. “Moustapha had a tremendous two-year career at Sheridan before moving on to the University of San Francisco,” Sheridan College head coach Steve Smiley said. “He was a blessing for our program as we transitioned into a new coaching staff between his freshman & sophomore years. Moustapha helped lead us through that transition and had a great sophomore year, being named as an NJCAA All-American and helping to lead his team to a 26-win season and a spot in the Region 9 Final Four. We’re very proud of his accomplishments at the University of San Francisco and now as he gets an opportunity to play basketball at the highest level. Moose is not only a great basketball player, but is also a great person, and will hopefully play for many years in the professional ranks.”

Diarra turned in a strong senior campaign for the USF Dons, averaging 7.8 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game. An excellent low post scorer, Diarra ranked seventh among West Coast Conference field goal percentage leaders converting on .498 (111-223) from the field.

I have really enjoyed playing in the United States,” Diarra said. “It was a really good experience to be in another country on my own; I learned a lot of things during my 4 years in America. The time playing at Sheridan has really prepared me well to play professionally, I learned to play the game harder and have endured many tough challenges along the way.”

Pau-Orthez is one of the top clubs in France and plays in Pro A (top division). The club owns a league-best seven Pro A Championships. The Pro A season starts in September and runs through May. Some other notable NBA players that have competed with Pau-Orthez Club are Boris Diaw, Mickael Pietrus, Mustafa Shakur, and Gheorghe Mureşan.

Las Vegas Guard Joins General Nation

Sheridan College Head Coach Steve Smiley has announced today the signing of Las Vegas guard Victor Bermudez to a national letter of intent. Bermudez, a 6’4 175 pound guard played last season at University Park Academy Prep last year in Houston. During his high school playing days at Cheyenne High School in Las Vegas, Bermudez showed his sharp shooting ability by raining in 50% from the field, 88% from the line, and an impressive 48% from beyond the arc. Bermudez joins a highly touted freshman class that is expected to contribute immediately after losing standout guards Matt Glover (signed at Penn State), Omar McDade (signed at Fort Hays State) and Kendrick Morse (signed at Fort Hays State).

Coach Smiley had this to say about Victor: “We’re very excited to get a player of Victor’s caliber this late in the recruiting process. Over the past several days, we realized that we might need to sign one more player and that is exactly when Victor became available. Victor is a good-sized, athletic guard with a high skill level that can play anywhere from the 1-3 guard positions. We saw Victor during the Las Vegas AAU Tournament in July when he played for 24-7 Hoops, and Head Coach Pat Amico. He has a chance to be a special player here at Sheridan and at the next level, as well. We’re excited to get him out here and start working with him right away.”

Current Texas Christian University Horned Frog, and 2010 Sheridan College All-American, JR Cadot finished out his summer by participating in the FIBA Caribbean Basketball Confederation Championship Tournament for his home country of the Bahamas. Sheridan College Head Men's Basketball Coach Steve Smiley announced the signing today of Aaron Tyser from Buffalo HS, WY. Aaron is a 6'4", 195 pound wing / forward who will join current General Robert Heyer as back-to-back Wyoming 3A State Players of the Year. While Aaron was at Buffalo High School, he led his team to back-to-back 3A State Titles, was named All-Conference three times, and All-State twice while averaging 16ppg and 6rpg as a senior. Aaron also graduated #1 in his class academically as he held a cumulative 4.0 GPA and lettered in football for 3 years. Aaron will bring toughness and leadership on and off the court.
Coach Smiley's thoughts: "Aaron is a great addition to our program. He really impressed us late this spring when he came up to work out. He was more advanced as a player than I had previously realized, and we're very happy to have him next year. We see Aaron competing for minutes at our small forward position. He had a great spring, representing the state in a sweep of the South Dakota and Montana All-Stars, scoring in double-figures in all four of those games (the only Wyoming player to do that). He has a chance to be a very good player for us."

Midwest PG Signs With Sheridan College

Sheridan College coach Steve Smiley signed guard RJ Leverette on Monday, June 20th. RJ is a 6'0", 160 pound point guard from Grandview High School in Missouri. RJ had a great career at Grandview where he played in the Missouri State Championship game his sophomore year with Colorado University standout and first-round NBA draft pick Alec Burks. As a Bulldog, RJ averaged 19.2 points, 6.3 assists, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.9 steals a game. Last year against Stanley High School, RJ scored 26 points and dished out 12 assists in Grandview's win. He also had a breakout performance against Belton when he went off for 36 points and 6 assists. Leverette will bring the scoring side to the point guard position that will compliment fellow freshman Donald Gaddy's pass first mentality. Coach Smiley has never recruited from the Kansas City area before, but was very happy to see RJ still around during the summer.

Coach Smiley on RJ: "We're really excited to have RJ's commitment to play for us next year. Coach Davis did a great job in initially focusing on RJ and developing a relationship with him. RJ had a great visit to campus and we were all really impressed with RJ as a player and more importantly, as a person. He has a chance to be a really good player at our level, and I truly believe he will move on to the Division 1 level after his time at Sheridan if he continues to work hard and develop his body and his overall game."

SC Generals sign elite East Coast Guard, Wayne Bradford!

Sheridan College Men's Basketball Coach Steve Smiley is proud to announce today the signing of Baltimore, MD native Wayne Bradford. The 6'3", 185 pound guard will come to Sheridan from the east cost where he played basketball for Roanoke Catholic High School in Virginia and legendary coach Bill Hodges (Former Head Coach at Indiana State). While at RCHS, Wayne averaged 17 points, 4.5 assists, and 3 rebounds for Coach Bill Hodges and the Celtics. Bradford had his best game when his best was needed against powerhouse Oak Hill Academy when he scored 27 points, dished out 6 assists, and had 3 steals. Wayne will add to a recruiting class that will bring in recruits from all around the world. He brings a lot of game experience from high school playing against some of the very best the nation has to offer. Sheridan College will welcome Wayne Bradford to campus when the school year begins in August.

Coach Smiley had this to say about Wayne: "We're really excited to have Wayne join our team for next year. Wayne is not only a really good player, but a good student as well. Realistically, he should be at a D1 school right now, but a few things fell through for Wayne, and we were able to get involved with him late in the process. Wayne played for a great high school coach and also played for one of the top AAU programs on the East Coast when he played for the East Coast Fusion and Head Coach Cade Lemcke. Wayne is a very versatile player that is naturally a scoring guard, but could also play the point or the small forward if needed. He will really help us out for next year."

"We're thrilled to get a player of Donald's caliber to help fill our guard position for next year. Our #1 priority in the upcoming class was to find a pass-first point guard that would make his teammates better, and we also wanted to find a guard that had the ability to put tremendous pressure on the ball on the defensive end. Donald fits the mold exactly. He's a very good athlete, has a great feel for the game and for getting his teammates involved, and should be a great defensive player. His main goal, in terms of player improvement, is to improve on his jump shot from the perimeter. The Sheridan College Generals finished the 2010-11 Regular Season in impressive fashion by beating two Wyoming Conference Rivals this past weekend, to finish the year 21-9 heading into this week's Region 9 Tournament.
On Friday night, the Generals played Eastern Wyoming College from Torrington, WY, attempting to avenge an earlier season loss in Torrington. The Generals honored their sophomores prior to tip-off, and all host families and parents were recognized as well, so there was a great energy in the gym. SC came out flat however, especially on offense, and found themselves down 35-33 at half. The second half was another low-scoring affair, but Sheridan finally distanced themselves on a couple of Omar McDade 3's late in the game, and with time running down, Sheridan pulled out a couple of huge defensive stops to seal the victory. McDade led the Generals with 19 points, and Jarrell Crayton finished with 12.
On Saturday, the Generals finally broke out of a shooting and scoring slump against a red-hot Laramie County team that had won their previous nine games. Sheridan exploded out of the gates and led 51-42 at halftime, and kept up the performance throughout, as they torched LCCC for 95 points en route to a 95-81 victory. #25 ranked Generals stay unbeaten, win two at Holiday Inn Classic!

The #25-ranked SC Generals won two more games this past weekend to stay unbeaten on the year at 10-0. The Generals hosted their last tournament, the Holiday Inn Classic, with conference opening up this coming weekend.
