very good game.

They are led by Lorenzo Bonam, who averages 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 4
assists per game. The Pronghorns score 99 points per game as a team, and

The Men’s Basketball Team Volunteers at Highland Park Elementary
In the
month of November, the men’s basketball team made a few visits to Highland Park
Elementary School to be involved with a couple different classrooms. The first
time, the Generals visited Meagan Dow’s 2nd grade class. The
students took turns interviewing the men’s basketball players and practicing
their reading lessons. Please see the link below for a video of one student
interviewing freshman forward Tre McCallum.
Different
members from the basketball team visited Kerri Parr-Cook’s music class, where
they sang Christmas songs to help prepare the children for their annual
Christmas recital. With all the music and singing, a dance battle broke out
between one student and sophomore forward Bennie Lufile. The link to the video
is posted below.
The
Sheridan College Men’s Basketball team would like to be involved as much as
possible with the Sheridan community. If you know of any volunteer
opportunities for our student-athletes, please contact Tom Parks at

SC Men’s Hoops Puts on "First Whistle" Event for Sheridan Recreation and YMCA
On October 18th, 2014 the entire Sheridan College
Men’s Basketball Team helped Sheridan Recreation with their annual First
Whistle youth camp. The hour long camp is designed to get the community excited
about youth basketball, and it also gives parents a chance to sign their children
up for youth teams.
There was a great turnout for the event, which was held at
the Bruce Hoffman Golden Dome. The whole men’s team including players and
coaches put the kids through lots of drills to help develop fundamentals. Each
kid had the opportunity to interact with the players throughout the camp.
Overall, it was a very nice event, and the Generals felt honored to be a part
of a community event.
The men’s basketball team will be holding their own holiday

Jamir Andrews and RaVonn “PJ” Posey Sign National Letters of Intent
Photo by Mike Pruden from The Sheridan Press |
On Wedensday, November 12th, two men’s basketball players
signed to play at the NCAA Division 1 level. Jamir Andrews (Dublin, CA) signed
with Bowling Green State University of the Mid-American Conference (MAC). Jamir was highly recruited after a solid
freshman year where he averaged 12.3 points per game, while shooting over 40%
from three. So far this year, Jamir has averaged 20.8 points and 3.8 rebounds
per contest. When asked why Jamir chose Bowling Green, he said, “I chose
Bowling Green State University because I know I can thrive and win there.”
PJ Posey (Milwaukee, WI) signed his letter of intent to play
at Cal State University – Bakersfield, who participates in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). PJ has been a big part of the
Generals success over his time in Sheridan. As a freshman, he led the team in
field goal percentage, while shooting 58% from the floor. So far this season,
Posey has started all contests, and he is averaging 5.4 points and 3.8
rebounds. PJ was very excited to sign his LOI, and he said, “My whole life went
into that piece of paper that I signed on Wednesday.”
“We are very excited for both Jamir and PJ to sign with NCAA
Division 1 schools. It is very rewarding to see two young men work hard on and
off the court to achieve their dreams. We truly believe they chose schools
that will be a great fit for them,” said Sheridan College head coach Matt
Hammer.

Men's Basketball Participates in Annual Midnight Madness Event
Generals Nation,
Last night, Sheridan College had their annual Midnight
Madness event at the Bruce Hoffman Golden Dome. The night was dedicated to the all
the student-athletes at Sheridan College, who put in extra time and effort
every day in the classroom and in their sport. All sports were recognized including
men’s and women’s soccer, volleyball, rodeo, and men’s and women’s basketball.
The event had many interactive games and prizes for all the students, and it
also gave each team a chance to interact with the whole student body.
Each member of the men’s basketball team was introduced to the
crowd. Following introductions, the men’s and women’s basketball team had a
freshman vs. sophomore scrimmage. Directly after the scrimmage, Kyi Thomas,
Bennie Lufile, and Pablo Rivas took the floor for a dunk contest. Each member
threw down some impressive dunks, but Kyi stole the show after he jumped over
the emcee. The crowd was very enthusiastic, and it was a great night for the
whole athletics program at Sheridan College.
Please view the YouTube clip below for highlights from the
night. All the photo credits go to Mike at The Sheridan Press.

The Men’s Basketball Team Rolls Past Medicine Hat College (Canada)
Generals Nation,
The men’s basketball team had their first test on Saturday
night, as they faced Medicine Hat College from Canada. This was the first time
the 2014-15 team was on the court together in a game setting. After a slow
start, the Generals were sparked by defensive intensity and transition baskets.
The Generals showed some strengths, and also showed many things that still need
some work. At the half, Sheridan College was up 48-31, and sophomore guard Jamir
Andrews led the team with 11 points. A few minutes into the second half, the
team turned it up defensively and set the tempo for the rest of the game.
Sheridan College got the win with a final score of 92-61. Sophomore guard Kyi
Thomas and freshman forward Pablo Rivas paced the Generals with 17 points each.
Sophomore forward Bennie Lufile added 15 points. Three players were out with
injuries for the Generals, including Preston Wells (knee), Jevon Griffin
(ankle), and Tredarius McCallum (finger).
The Generals continue their exhibition game schedule this
Saturday, October 18th, at the Casper College Jamboree. They take on
Western Nebraska Community College at 12:30 PM and Little Big Horn College at
4:30 PM. Thanks to all the fans for your support, and we are looking forward to
the upcoming season.

SC Generals Finish Summer Youth Camps
SC Generals Finish Summer Youth Camps
The Sheridan College men's basketball program finished up their summer youth basketball camps in June. The Generals put on a 4-day youth Day Camp at the Bruce Hoffman Golden Dome from June 9-12. With 113 campers coming out to participate in the camp, this was the largest basketball camp Sheridan College has ever had. During the four days of camp, the campers were taught about the fundamentals of the game, including; shooting, dribbling, passing, catching, and defense. The campers learned from the SC Generals Men's Basketball staff, as well as former General and current professional player, Jarrell Crayton.
The SC Generals men's basketball team also put on the Wyoming Elite Camp on June 24th & 25th at the Golden Dome. The Elite Camp is an invitation only camp that displays some of the best high school basketball players in Wyoming. With a limit of only 40 campers, these young players received a great deal of one-on-one attention from the camp staff. Along with working on the fundamentals of the game, these prep stars also took part in a lot of competitive drills and games.

SC Generals Guard Jeff Amazan Commits to Fresno Pacific
The SC Generals are pleased to announce that 6'4" guard Jeff Amazan has committed to play for NCAA D2 Fresno Pacific and head coach Chris Wright. Jeff, a Boston native, played a big part in the success of Generals basketball this past season, helping Sheridan College to a 27-6 record.
Jeff started 16 games this season for the Generals while averaging over 20 minutes a game. As a bigger guard, 6'3.5" and 205 pounds, Jeff used that size advantage averaging 10.3 points and 4.4 rebounds per game. Jeff had multiple games with double digit points and 8+ rebounds, including a 17 point and 9 rebound effort against Eastern Wyoming. Jeff also had 14 points and 8 rebounds (6 offensive) in a home victory over Gillette College.
Coach Smiley's comments: "Jeff was an extremely multi-dimensional player in our system this season, playing anywhere from the 1-4. His primary position is on the wing, but he can create for others, and his strength allows him to play a 3 or 4 at the next level as well. He has the ability to get to the rim and finish, and also shoots well from 3. He's also a great rebounding guard and really is good guarding on the ball."

SC Generals Sign Shamir Rolle from the Bahamas
The SC Generals
are excited to announce the latest addition to General Nation in Shamir Rolle,
a 6'7" 210 pound standout post man from CI Gibson in Nassau, Bahamas.
Shamir played AAU for the New Providence Storm, and head coach Kevin
Johnson.
This past season
Shamir was the National MVP in the GSSSA regular season, averaging 12 points, 8
rebounds, and 5 blocks a game. Shamir was also named the MVP in the
National Championship game, as he led his team to the title with 9 points, 15
rebounds, and 7 blocks. As a member of the Providence Basketball Club,
Shamir led the team in rebounding and blocked shots in 2014. While
playing in the D Squad Basketball Tournament, Shamir was named to the 1st-Team
All Tournament Team as he led the tournament in rebounds and blocked shots.
Coach Smiley had this to say
about Shamir: “This is a big signing for our 2014-15 class, as Shamir is an
athletic post that can play either the 5 or 4. I had the chance to see Shamir
live a couple years ago and was really impressed with his size, strength, and
most importantly, his motor. Shamir plays extremely hard, is very active on the
glass and is very mobile for his size. He’s been coached extremely well by
Kevin Johnson in both High School and AAU, and should have an immediate impact
on our program.”

SC Generals Soph Post Taylor Millay commits to Mt. Marty!
Millay had an integral role for the Generals, amassing a combined 51 wins during his two-year career at Sheridan. As a Freshman, Millay elected to remove his redshirt during the conference season after key players Tate Stensgaard and Isaac Oeltjen went down with season-ending injuries, and helped SC claim a share of the Region 9 North Regular Season Title. As a Sophomore, Taylor helped SC win 27 games and advance to the Region 9 Final Four before the Generals were knocked out by the host school, NJC.
Coach Smiley had this to say about Taylor: "We're really happy for Taylor and his commitment to play at Mt. Marty. This has been a long and at times frustrating process for Taylor, because he didn't get to consistently play the minutes that he deserved during his time on campus. Taylor was worthy of playing big minutes, but was stuck in a position with 3 other post players and at times there just weren't minutes available. Even with that as a hindrance, Taylor was always a team-first guy, and was always ready when his number was called upon. I told Taylor that this year would be his most frustrating year, and I truly believe he will have a huge impact at Mt. Marty and play big minutes his last two years."
Millay is the 6th General to move on this year, joining Iakeem Alston (St. Bonaventure), Fred Dure (Arkansas State), Kaileb Rodriguez (Nevada), Josh Adeyeye (Jacksonville U), and Tate Hilgenkamp (Black Hills State U).

He also became just the second member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference to be named Player of the Year and NSIC Tournament MVP in the same season. He left Northern State ranked 13th on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,686 points. Hammer prepped at Elkton High School in South Dakota where he was named Mr. Basketball in 2002. Matt received his Bachelor of Science and Physical Education from Northern State in 2007, while also completing his Masters in Health, Physical Eduation, and Coaching at NSU in 2010.
Coach Smiley had this to say about Matt: “Matt has been a
personal friend and former teammate of mine, and I’ve followed his career ever
since he finished his playing days years ago. He has a wealth of knowledge to
share with our guys from both a coaching and playing perspective, and his
enthusiasm and professionalism will be infectious amongst our team and in our
department. He also will be able to bring new ideas to the court, and a new
network of recruiting from his overseas experiences and his connections in the
Midwest from recruiting around the Detroit – Cleveland – Indianapolis –
Cleveland areas recently. When our Assistant Position opened up, Matt was the
type of person and coach that fit into all of the criteria that I was looking
for.”

Generals Sign Elite Forward Pablo Rivas out of Phoenix, AZ!
The Generals are pleased to announce the signing of elite forward Pablo Rivas to the 2014-15 Recruiting Class! Pablo is a 6'6" combo forward out of Phoenix, Arizona, prepping at Cesar Chavez High School and playing on the AAU Circuit for Team Zona and Coach Sal Garcia.
Pablo was one of the most decorated athletes in all of Arizona during his prep career, averaging a double-double for 3 consecutive seasons, being named to the All-Arizona team (top 5 players in the entire state) as a Junior and Senior (2nd Team), All West Valley Player of the Year as a Junior, the 2014 "Promotion Athletics All Star Game MVP" in one of the state's top all star games, and helping his team to a state Final 4 Appearance as a sophomore, and a State Title Game Appearance as a junior.
As a sophomore, Rivas averaged 14 ppg, 11 rpg, and 4 bpg on a State Final 4 Team.
As a junior, Rivas bumped his scoring up to 16ppg to go with 11 rpg on a State Title Runner-up Team and broke the school record for blocks with 172.
As a senior, Rivas averaged 18 ppg, 11rpg, 2apg, 2spg, and 3bpg for Cesar Chavez high school.
For his career, Rivas amassed school records for points (1,500+) and rebounds (900+).
Coach Smiley had this to say about Pablo: "This is a big signing for our team next year, not only because of Pablo's obvious talent, but more so because of the need on our team that he fits into and because of his intangibles. Pablo is a tremendous kid with a great motor and he's very mature and worldly for his age, moving away from his home in Panama 5 years ago to pursue his dreams in the States. He'll be able to help us both on the perimeter and on the inside if needed, and will help fill the void left by sophomores Fred Dure (Arkansas State) and Josh Adeyeye (Jacksonville U) who played a similar position. Pablo fits exactly into our vision of what this position needs to entail, and we're thrilled that he's making the commitment to become a General."

Greg can do a lot of things, but he can really shoot the ball and is a threat to score everywhere on the floor. He's been to several of our Elite Camps throughout his career, so he's very familiar with our program, and in turn, we're familiar with what he can bring to the table for us."
Greg is the 4th addition to the Generals 2014-15 recruiting class, joining Jevon Griffin (Denver East), Terrell Butler (Arbor View, Las Vegas) and Chase Iwata Bartelme (King Kekaulike, Hawaii) in this year's current class. More additions to the class are expected to follow in the very near future.

Sophomore Forward Josh Adeyeye signs with D1 Jacksonville U (FL)!
The Sheridan College Generals staff is pleased to announce that Sophomore Combo Forward Josh Adeyeye has signed his National Letter of Intent to continue his career at NCAA Division 1 Jacksonville University (FL) of the Atlantic Sun Conference.
Adeyeye, who transferred in this past season from Washington Adventist (DC), was an integral part of the Generals successful season, averaging 11.5 PPG (3rd best on team) and a team-leading 7.6 RPG before a season-ending leg injury in late January.
Coach Smiley had this to say about Josh: "We're really excited about Josh's signing to Jacksonville. Josh embodied everything positive about college athletics, as he was a great player, teammate, student, and member in our community. Josh has had to battle through various challenges throughout his career, including his most recent setback with the leg injury, and he's always been resilient. I have no doubt that Josh will have a great final two years at Jacksonville, and will have an impact on their program, just as he did with ours."
Josh is the 5th General to sign a National Letter of Intent this year, including Iakeem Alston (St. Bonaventure, NCAA D1), Fred Dure (Arkansas State, NCAA D1), Kaileb Rodriguez (University of Nevada Reno, NCAA D1), and Tate Hilgenkamp (Black Hills State University, NCAA D2).

Sophomore Tate Hilgenkamp signs at NCAA D2 Black Hills State of the RMAC!
The SC Generals are pleased to announce that Tate Hilgenkamp has accepted a scholarship offer from NCAA D2 Black Hills State University (Spearfish, SD) of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and will finish his career as a Yellowjacket.
Hilgenkamp had a solid two-year career for the Generals, and was instrumental late in this past season as he helped to lead the Generals on a 9-game winning streak after being inserted into the starting lineup. Originally from Laramie, WY, Hilgenkamp had big games in wins against nationally-ranked Gillette College, at Casper College, and during the Generals run to the Region 9 Final 4 as a starter.
Coach Smiley had this to say about Tate's commitment: "We're really excited about this signing. Tate came to Sheridan two years ago as a relatively unheralded prep player looking for an opportunity to be a part of a team and earn his way into the rotation. He worked as hard as any player we've had in the past 6 years and was always a team-first guy, even when he wasn't getting the opportunity to play significant minutes. When an opportunity arose for Tate to get major minutes late in his sophomore year, he was ready for the challenge and helped us make a big late season run. I'm happy to see that Tate has committed to play for such a solid NCAA program as Black Hills, and to play for Coach Schafer. The RMAC is one of the best D2 leagues in the country, and we're excited to see how he progresses at that level."

Generals sign elite prep guard Terrell Butler from Arbor View HS in Vegas!
The Sheridan College Generals are proud to announce the 2nd signing of their 2014 recruiting class as Terrell Butler of Arbor View HS (Las Vegas) has signed to play for SC.
Butler, a 6'3" 185 lb guard, had a standout prep career at Arbor View, helping to lead the Aggies to a 23-3 record while averaging 19 ppg, 4 rpg, 3 apg, 2.5 spg, and 1.5 bpg while playing on a team with several other elite players. Butler was also named Nevadapreps.com Athlete of the Week, 1st Team All Tourney at the Energy Classic, MVP of the Legacy Tip-Off Tourney, 1st-Team All-Northwest Region as a Junior and Senior, finished Top 5 in career stats at Arbor View in all major categories, and was a 1,000+ scorer.
Coach Smiley had this to say about Terrell: "Terrell is a player that we've recruited all year long and we're really happy to get his commitment for next year. He had Division 1 interest for the entire season, so we feel like he's a player that will be able to step in and help right away. Terrell can play multiple guard spots and is a natural scorer with a great frame that is college-ready. His athleticism should make him a great defender as he progresses in our system. He played on a very successful and well-coached high school team which will help tremendously with his learning curve in the fall."

SC Generals - Available Sophomores
Sheridan College
Available Sophomores
Coaches, as the season winds
down, we wanted to send you some information on our available sophomores that
are still open to recruitment.
We have four sophomores that
are still very open to recruitment at this point in time, that we wanted to
highlight. Several of these players aren’t getting as much recruitment as they
would have if 3 of our other players didn’t sign D1 during the early period
(Alston to St. Bonaventure, Dure to Arkansas State, Rodriguez to Nevada).
Please let us know if you have any interest or questions for the following
players. I’ve included full-game and highlight links (where applicable) for
each player below. If you need more film on DVD we’d be happy to send out. The
easiest & quickest way is to send an email to ssmiley@sheridan.edu or call me at
307-674-6446 x 4000.
We appreciate your interest
in our players! Coach Smiley…

Coach Smiley’s comments:
“Jeff was an extremely multi-dimensional player in our system this season,
playing anywhere from the 1-4. His primary position is on the wing, but he can
create for others, and his strength allows him to play a 3 or 4 at the next
level as well. He has the ability to get to the rim and finish, and also shoots
well from the 3. He’s also a great rebounding guard and really is good guarding
on the ball.”
Kyi Thomas:

Coach Smiley’s comments: “Kyi
was stuck for most of the season behind several D1 players, but when he was
given an opportunity late in the year, he seized the opportunity to be our top
defender and never relinquished a starting spot. Kyi’s a phenomenal athlete,
strong and explosive, and can guard a multitude of different players.
Offensively, as he simplified his game later in the year, he really started to
blossom. He’s a capable 3-point shooter and really hard to guard when he
attacks the rim. Kyi’s another terrific rebounder as a big guard.”
Hometown: Laramie, WY
Height & Weight: 5’10”,
165
Position: PG / SG
Academics: On pace to
graduate
Projected level: D2 / NAIA
Key Stats: 216lb Bench, 428lb

Shoots 42% from 3FG. Scored 10 pts vs. Gillette, 10pts at Casper, 10pts at
Central Wyoming in last 6 games of regular season.
Full-game vs. Gillette
College: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OUyc5GebSl8
Coach Smiley’s comments: “One
of my all-time favorite players. Was a team-first player during his entire
career as he played limited minutes behind several D1 players. After a losing
streak late in the season, we gave Tate a chance to start and run the show and
he far exceeded our expectations, helping us to win 9 straight games before our
season ending loss in the Final 4 of the Regional. Tate is a great shooter from
3, crafty at getting to the rim or hitting the pull-up, and has a very good
Assist:TO ratio. Tate has a great feel for the game, doesn’t put himself in bad
situations on the floor, and makes others around him better.”
Taylor Millay:
Hometown: Casper, WY
Height & Weight: 6’7”,
260
Position: Post
Academics: Will have 48
transferable
Projected level: D2 / NAIA
Key Stats: 236lb Bench, 475lb
Squat. Shoots 50% from the field.
One of our top Rebounders per
30 minutes played, but stats are low because playing behind several mid-level
D1 players.
Coach Smiley’s comments: “I
truly believe Taylor is a diamond in the rough, with the lack of true post
players available. He would be an absolute steal in the NAIA and would be a
good D2 post player for sure in the right system. Taylor prefers to play back
to basket, but also can face up from 10’-15’, runs the floor well, is physical
& tough, and is a good rebounder. I was disappointed that we weren’t able
to get Taylor more quality minutes this year (played behind 3 posts that will
all go D1), but he is well worth a D2 or NAIA taking.”
