Generals Sweep Lions Club Tournament, Move to 8-2



(Sheridan) – The Sheridan College Generals moved to 8-2 on the season after picking up a pair of wins over the Weekend at the 38th annual Lions Club Tournament.

In an all-out, dominating effort, the Generals defeated the University of Great Falls 117-37. All 12 members of the Generals scored in the contest, 7 of which in double figures.  Sophomore center Isaac Oeltjen (Red Wing, MN) notched his first double-double of the season scoring 10 points and grabbing 10 rebounds while blocking 4 shots in the contest.  The Generals shot 57% from the field and 54% from three-point range while holding the Argos to 23% shooting from the field.  The Generals also dominated the glass, out-rebounding their opponent 53-17.

The Generals next faced a match-up with Region XVIII opponent Colorado Northwestern.  Another hot shooting night for the Generals led them past the Spartans.  The Generals shot 52% from the field and 48% from behind the arc, knocking down 10 three-point field goals.  Sophomore guard Victor Bermudez scored 17 points in the contest, knocking down 5 three-point shots.  The Generals were led in scoring by Ron Mvouika and Tate Stensgaard who both scored game high 22 points.  Stensgaard also pulled down a game high 17 rebounds in 22 minutes of action.

The Generals are back in action this weekend facing Midwest Elite & Western Nebraska in the Holiday Inn Classic. Game times are 7:30 pm Friday night and 5:00 pm Saturday afternoon.  Games will streamed on www.SCGenerals.com.

Generals Sweep the Weekend, Move to 6-1



(Powell) – The Sheridan College Generals picked up a pair of wins over the weekend at the Northwest College tournament, in Powell, Wyoming. The Generals faced a Region IX-South opponent in the Northeastern Junior College Plainsmen, and the Williston State College Tetons from Region XIII.

The Generals defeated the Plainsmen behind a hot shooting night, going 6-12 from 3-point range and shooting 56% from the field.  A 73-62 Generals victory was led by sophomore guard Victor Bermudez who notched a game high 20 points, including three 3-point baskets.  Sophomore forward Brandon Pines scored 13 points for the Generals while going 5-6 from the foul line. Ron Mvouika and freshman guard Iakeem Alston also scored in double figures for the Generals, notching 12 points and 10 points respectively.  The Generals cleaned up on the glass, out-rebounding the Plainsmen 30-18.

The Generals would finish off the weekend by facing the national vote receiving Tetons from Williston State College. Five Generals would finish the game with double figure scoring.  Bermudez once again led the Generals by scoring 16 points, netting four 3-point baskets, and grabbing a game high 10 rebounds.  Ron Mvouika and Frederic Dure both notched 13 points in the victory. Tate Stensgaard added to his double-double count for the season by scoring 12 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. And freshman guard Joe Kiely scored 11 points on the evening.  The Generals once again made their presence felt on the boards, out-rebounding Williston 38-29.

Generals Roll Past Impact Academy

(Twin Falls) - The Sheridan College Generals saw 11 players score, 6 in double-digits, as they defeated Impact Academy 102-72 in the final day of the College of Southern Idaho Hilex Poly Invitational.  The Generals were led by Ron Mvouika who scored 19 points, pulled down 8 rebounds, dished out 6 assists, and netted 3 steals in 18 minutes of action. Tate Stensgaard contributed 14 points in the outing, also pulling down 8 rebounds.  Freshman guard Iakeem Alston scored 12 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, and dished out 4 assists in the contest. While forwards Brandon Pines, Isaac Oeltjen, and John Ruffin all scored in double figures.

Despite a poor team shooting performance, the Generals dominated the glass, out-rebounding Impact 63-44. The Generals demonstrated their ability to share the ball by netting 31 assists on their 44 field goals. The Generals move to 4-1 on the season and are back in action this weekend in Powell, Wyoming where they will take on Northeastern Junior College at 3:30 pm MST.

Generals Fall to #12 Monroe

(Twin Falls) - In a back-and-forth finale, a Tate Stensgaard three-point basket with 8 seconds remaining tied the Generals with 12th ranked Monroe College at the College of Southern Idaho tournament Friday night.  However, a lay-up by Maurice Ndour with 2.8 seconds gave Monroe College a two-point lead that the Generals could not answer.  The 12th ranked Mustangs, from New York, handed the Generals their first loss of the season (3-1).

Freshman forward Tate Stensgaard led the way for the Generals, scoring 22 points and grabbing 14 rebounds, including 7 offensive rebounds.  Sophomore guard Victor Bermudez scored 13 points for the Generals and grabbed 6 rebounds. While sophomore guard Ron Mvouika also notched a double-double for the Generals, scoring 10 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.  The Generals are back in action against Impact Academy on saturday, November 10 at 5:30 pm MST.

Generals Pick Up 3rd Win




(Sheridan) – The Sheridan College Generals opened up their first home game of the season with a 92-71 victory over the Rocky Mountain College Battlin’ Bears.  The Generals saw six players reach double-digit scoring in the victory. Sophomore guard Victor Bermudez (Las Vegas, NV) and freshman forward John Ruffin (Chicago, IL) both netted 14 points for the Generals.  Ruffin also pulled down 7 rebounds on the night.  Sophomore forward Tate Stensgaard (Rapid City, SD) had 13 points and 8 rebounds.  Freshman guards Frederic Dure (Montreal, Canada) and X-Keem Jones (Wilson, NC) both netted 12 points in the win.  Freshman guard Tate Hilgenkamp was the last General to reach double-figures, scoring 11 points on the night, including 3 three-point baskets.

The Generals shot 56% from the filed on the night and 50% from beyond the arc, connecting on 8 out of 16 three-point field goals. The Generals are back in action this Friday, November 9th, in Twin Falls, Idaho where they take on the #12 ranked Monroe College Mustangs.

Generals Start 2-0 After Weekend Tournament




(Gillette, WY) – The Sheridan College Generals started off the 2012-2013 season with a pair of wins at the Gillette College Tournament.  The Generals took on the Air Force Preparatory Academy in their season opener Friday night, defeating the Falcons 72-67.  Freshman forward Tate Stensgaard (Rapid City, SD) led the Generals with 22 points and 12 rebounds, going 9-9 from the foul line. Sophomore guard Ron Mvouika (Paris, France) also contributed 20 points in the Generals victory. 

The Generals were back in action Saturday night, taking on reigning Region IX South champions Western Nebraska Community College. A high scoring contest, the Generals defeated the Cougars 107-104 in overtime.  Ron Mvouika led the Generals with 33 points, including a 3 point basket with .9 seconds left to notch the victory.  Mvouika also grabbed 14 rebounds and dished out 4 assists in the win.  Sophomore guard Victor Bermudez (Las Vegas, NV) had 28 points, going 5-8 from beyond the arc.  Freshman guard Iakeem Alston (Baltimore, MD) also added in 17 points and 5 assists for the Generals.

The Generals are back in action Monday night, at home, against Rocky Mountain College. Tip-off is at 7:30 pm in the Golden Dome. Live streaming will be accessible through www.SCGENERALS.com.
